YCC President Receives Political ‘Rising Star’ Award
Christopher N. Malagisi, 28, president of the Young Conservatives Coalition, received the Campaigns & Elections Politics Magazine “Rising Star” award. One of the most prestigious honors in politics, the award goes to people age 35 or under who have already made a significant mark in political advocacy. The magazine chose 10 Republicans, 10 Democrats and seven nonpartisan leaders this year out of a pool of several hundred nominees.
“Capping off an historic election year, we received a record number of nominations for this year’s Rising Stars,” said James Klatell, managing editor of Politics. “With so many exceptional young people working in politics today, this was an exceedingly difficult process.
The Rising Stars will be honored in Washington, DC on June 12 during the 26 annual Campaigns & Elections “Art of Political Campaigning” conference. Past Rising Stars have included David Axelrod, Paul Begala, Donna Brazile, James Carville, Alex Castellanos, Rahm Emanuel, Ed Gillespie, Karen Hughes, Laura Ingraham, Jim Pinkerton, Ralph Reed and George Stephanopoulos.
“I am very honored to have received this award but it’s more of a tribute to all the leadership and all the members of the YCC who have helped get our message out about the necessity of fostering youth activism within the conservative movement and Republican Party,” stated Christopher N. Malagisi, president of the YCC.
The YCC seeks to: 1.) Organize a new 21st century young professional conservative networking coalition for the purposes of communication, sharing resources, and strategic coordination; 2.) Serve as an umbrella organization for leading right-of-center young adult and college groups; 3.) Employ an educational awareness campaign defining what it means to be a conservative today and fostering youth activism within the conservative movement at large.
