Officers

Christopher N. Malagisi, President
Christopher Malagisi is President of the Young Conservatives Coalition (YCC) – a DC-based young professional conservative advocacy and networking organization dedicated to organzing the next generation of the conservative movement by fostering young adult activism and public policy awareness. He is also the Director of Political Training at The Leadership Institute in Arlington, VA – a national conservative political training organization. He is responsible for training and organizing the Institute’s political, online activism, fundraising, and career trainings and has trained over 4,500 candidates, campaign staffers, activists, and students. Malagisi is also a Politicial Science Adjunct Professor at American University (DC) teaching two courses titled The Modern Conservative Movement in US Politics: 1945-Present and Campaigns & Political Activism. He is also a frequent trainer and guest lecturer at numerous conferences and universities across the country and overseas. Malagisi was recently awarded the 2009 Rising Star Award from Campaigns & Elections Politics Magazine. He has worked on three US presidential campaigns (Bush ‘04, Fred Thompson ‘07, McCain ‘08) and a high-profile US Senate campaign (George Allen ‘06). He has previously worked at the International Republican Institute (travelling to Afghanistan) and on Capitol Hill. Malagisi has been published in numerous print and online publications, has been a political analyst on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and CSPAN, and publishes a column at The Daily Caller and Parcbench. He is presently the Republican Party of Virginia’s 8th Congressional District Vice Chairman, received a Masters of Public Administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Public Affairs, received a B.A. in Political Science from American University, has worked and travelled to over 35 countries, and has recorded two original music piano albums.

Sarah B. Smith, Vice President
Sarah Smith is a development officer at Americans for Prosperity. Most recently, she served as a recruiter at Positions Inc., specializing in government relations, association, and non-profit placement. Prior to recruiting, Sarah was the manager of political research and the K Street Project at Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). There she ran ATR’s job employment service and the monthly Americans for Tax Reform Job Listings. Sarah started her career in Washington interning with the Republican National Committee major donor program, the Eagles. Sarah is also a veteran of many campaigns, such as the Bush/Cheney ’04 re-election campaign, where she worked as the Pennsylvania team leader & field representative for the College Republican National Committee. She has also served as the Chair on the DC Steering Committees for the releases of critically acclaimed independent films, Bella and The Stoning of Soraya M. Currently, Sarah serves on the board of Political Chicks RightNOW.
She received her B.A. in International Affairs with honors and a concentration in Spanish from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA.

Laura Vanasche, Secretary
Laura Vanasche is Director of Media Services at Luntz, Maslansky Strategic Research (LMSR). She is responsible for overseeing the media department and working on all media related projects including instant response sessions, video editing and production. Additionally, Laura worked with Fox News to produce the instant response focus groups led by Frank Luntz that aired during the 2008 campaign season. Since joining LMSR in January 2005 Laura has worked on a variety of projects for Fortune 500 companies, political associations and media. Prior to joining LMSR Laura worked in Northeast Ohio as a Field Representative for the College Republican National Committee during President Bush’s 2004 campaign. Laura is a native Oregonian and received a Bachelors of Arts in political science from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. In her spare time Laura enjoys training for triathlons and half marathons, traveling and politics. She currently resides in Alexandria, VA.

Michelle Selesky, Communications Director
Michelle is Communications Coordinator at Gingrich Communications where she orchestrates media opportunities for the former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, in addition to promoting speeches, book signings, Newt.org, and DVD and audio marketing. Michelle holds a Masters Degree in Political Management from the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University. Prior to that, she graduated with honors from UCLA, where she earned a B.A. in Political Science and served as team captain of the UCLA Women’s Gymnastics team.

Diane Tager, Online Director
Diane Tager graduated from Georgetown University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Since graduation she has been working as a nurse for Prince George’s County Health Department Healthy Start Program. She resides in Arlington, VA and is an avid supporter of conservative ideals. She will also be attending University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business in the Fall of 2010.

William Haun, Policy Director
As policy director of the YCC, Will Haun has played an instrumental role in drafting the Lake Anna Declaration, writing policy memos, and expanding the YCC’s educational outreach to the next generation of the conservative movement. Will graduated from American University with a B.A. in Political Science, and is currently pursuing a J.D. at the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. An active member of the Federalist Society and the Republican National Lawyers Association, Will has developed a vast array of experience at the intersection of law and politics. He has served in all three branches of the federal government, for Attorney General Ed Meese at The Heritage Foundation, and at the Republican Governors Association. While in college, Will set records as president of the American University College Republicans, served as a speaker at Americans For Prosperity’s first “Defending the American Dream Summit,” and was awarded for his conservative leadership by The Phillips Foundation. Will’s writings on law and politics have been published by National Review Online, and has commented on legal and politics topics for NRA news, The Politico, various newspapers, radio, and television stations. He is an alumnus of the U.S. Senate Youth Program, an avid baseball fan, and published James Bond film critic.

Bryant Conger, Deputy Policy Director
Bryant currently works as a fundraiser for Young America’s Foundation; a conservative non-profit organization that preserves the Reagan Ranch to teach young people about the foundational American principles that make our country exceptional. He received his BA in public management from the University of Arizona where he became heavily involved in the Conservative Movement. Prior to working with Young America’s Foundation, Bryant helped promote the interests of our nation’s entrepreneurs as a field coordinator for the United States Chamber of Commerce. He also worked for the College Republican National Committee in Cleveland, Ohio where he organized hundreds of active conservative students for the 2004 election cycle. His favorite activity is watching MSNBC after the left looses an election.

Alexander Brunk
Alex works as a Project Director for the polling and market research firm Wilson Research Strategies. He is responsible for executing and analyzing political polls and market research surveys, and has conducted more than two hundred opinion research studies including campaign polls for Congressmen Mike Pence, Duncan D. Hunter, Sam Graves, and Jim Gerlach. Prior to joining Wilson Research, Brunk worked on more than a dozen political campaigns, including Herman Cain’s US Senate campaign in 2004 and Senator Fred Thompson’s presidential campaign in 2007. He has also worked at The Leadership Institute and the DC Economic Empowerment Coalition, and as Editor of the political blog SavetheGOP.com. Brunk received his B.S. in Public Policy from Georgia Tech, where he served as President of the College Republicans and Executive Director of the Georgia Association of College Republicans. He is presently completing his M.A. in Political Science at Virginia Tech. Originally from Deerfield, IL, he resides in Alexandria, VA with his wife Karuna.
