Youth vote will be up for grabs in 2012

July 21, 2011
by Rachel Hoff
The Daily Caller
Earlier this month, former President Bill Clinton accused the Republican Party of trying to suppress the youth vote. In a speech to a group of progressive college students, Clinton said, “One of the most pervasive political movements going on outside Washington today is the disciplined, passionate, determined effort of Republican governors and legislators to keep most of you from voting next time.”…

YCC President Chris Malagisi was featured in the following Congressional Quarterly article this week:

CONGRESSIONAL QUARTERLY WEEKLY: ACU Staff Overhaul
After its first major leadership change since 1984, the American Conservative Union is finishing up a staff overhaul and restructuring its outreach. Florida lobbyist and businessman Al Cardenas was elected president in February, succeeding David Keene, who now heads the National Rifle Association.
The union is the oldest membership-based conservative advocacy group in the United States, but is perhaps best-known for being the parent organization of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the largest annual gathering of conservative activists…

Weiner Disgrace Shows Power of New Media
Erik Telford
Townhall
In the days before the rise of the conservative new media, Anthony Weiner very likely could have prevailed with his lies, claiming he was “hacked” and successfully killed the story of him tweeting a lewd photograph of himself. But perseverance by Andrew Breitbart forced Weiner’s tale to unravel rapidly, and it’s now just a matter of time before he’s forced out of Congress. There is a lesson here for anyone who has a few spare minutes a day and wants to have an impact on civic life in America: online activism works. The more citizens who become activists, the more they can drive stories that will have a major impact and change the course of the country. It’s surprisingly easy to do…

Should Social Conservatives Worry about the Next Generation?
June 13, 2011 12:03 P.M.
By Michael J. New
National Review Online
CNN’s Belief Blog recently posted an article about the Public Religion Research Institute’s survey on the attitudes of young adults toward abortion and same-sex marriage. The article painted a pessimistic picture for social conservatives. With regard to abortion, the views of young adults are similar to those of their parents. Many young adults dislike abortion and are receptive toward pro-life arguments, but feel uncomfortable with banning abortion entirely. Even worse, most young people, even those who identify themselves as Christian, seem sympathetic toward same-sex marriage…

On College Campuses, Obama’s Not Cool Anymore
BY ELSPETH REEVE
ATLANTIC WIRE
JUN 06, 2011
President Obama poll numbers are nearing the levels he enjoyed in 2008, with one glaring exception: young people. Especially young white people. His approval rating is at 56 percent approval rating among people ages 18 to 29. That’s higher than the 51 percent national average, but that’s a decline of 10 points compared to the 2008 exit polls, according to the National Journal’s Ronald Brownstein report. And if you want a look into the reason for the slump in one of the demographic groups that most strongly embraced Obama in 2008, it may be this: Obama’s simply not cool anymore…

ConservativeCalendar.com seeks to serve the huge number of Americans that have become involved in Conservative activities lately along with the large number who were already active in the Conservative Movement. Since early 2009, many Americans, immersed in the daily challenges of raising a family and making an honest living, suddenly realized that they had to ACT to oppose a huge expansion of federal government spending and debt. They had to ACT to save their Liberty, their children’s Liberty, and the solvency of their country. These “Tea Partiers” joined with those already in the Conservative Movement to organize and assemble to petition their congressional representatives to stop the reckless spending and federal control of every aspect of their lives. This newly expanded conservative movement is driven by the grassroots energy of an awakened people.
